Join the Danish minister for Climate, Energy and Utilities, Lars Aagaard, on a business delegation to South Korea.

This delegation organized by Danish Energy Export (formerly known as Danish Wind Export (DWEA), The Confederation of Danish Industry (DI), and Trade Council in Seoul will give you comprehensive insight and exposure to the South Korean offshore wind market, and leverage on the minister’s participation.

By participating in this delegation, you will gain knowledge on the current status on offshore wind energy projects and policies in South Korea and meet representatives from the strong local supply chain in South Korea.

The program will consist of

Korea-Denmark Green Business Conference with attendance of the minister: Business seminar, and networking lunch
visits to developers/EPC in Korea (Foreign and local)
visit to Korean supply chain (i.e. CS Wind-tower manufacturer; acquired Bladt Industries)
Business roundtable with important public stakeholders GENCO & KOEN (Korea South-East Power Co.).
- Awarded 600MW + 400 MW projects at the government PPA auction in 3Q 2023
Jeonnam visit with seminar with Jeonnam municipality and supply chains with network lunch, and visit to Mokpo new port: Offshore wind port supporting projects in Jeonnam.
- Jeonnam has a 20 GW pipeline

Denmark and Europe in offshore wind in Korea

According to information from Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC), renewables will account for 27.3% of Korea’s total power capacity in 2030, increasing nearly three fold from 9.7% this year. Danish and European actors have moved into the Korean offshore market:

Ørsted has secured development of 1.6 GW offshore wind for the Incheon project.
Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, through their joint venture company Jeonnam Offshore Wind Power with SK E&S, has secured financing for the offshore wind project Jeonnam I. The project has a capacity of 99 MW and is expected to be the first commercial Korean offshore wind project, scheduled to be operational in 2024. Throughout 2022, production and construction contracts were also signed with Korean suppliers, including Hyundai Engineering and Steel Industries, Hyundai Electric and Gaon, KT Submarine, and LS Cable and System. Through the joint venture with SK E&S CIP are also progressing on the two projects Jeonnam 2 and Jeonnam 3, with a combined capacity of 800 MW
Vestas has opened an office in Seoul, and selected as preferred supplier for i.e, 1.3 GW MunmuBaram floating-, 600 MW Wando Geumil offshore-, and 495 MW floating offshore wind project in South Korea.
Bladt Industries is now acquired by the South Korean tower manufacturer CS Wind
